Choosing Hostels to Stay In Central America and The Importance Of Reading Reviews On Trip Advisor

For hostels in Central America or any part of the world, sometimes being part of Tripadvisor is very beneficial, receiving Tripadvisor reviews like this one (to a hotel in Costa Rica) and sometimes not so good. But always good for us the travelers. Reviews as well as hostels can range from the best to the worst any hostel in Central America (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala) would like to be reviewed because sometimes passengers get very vocal about their experience in a hostel

My advice is to read the worst as the best reviews so you don't risk the vibe of your trip. Sometimes choosing a hostel is not very easy when they are so many hostels options to choose from.

The best you can do is read the reviews and concentrate on the worst ones. The good ones are not the best to tell you actually what the place is about. So go directly and check the bad reviews of the hostel or hotel you'd like to stay in.

Enjoy and good luck on your next destinations in Central America

Carnival Sao Paulo 2021 is Postponed!!

The Carnival in Sao Paulo - Brazil, as well as the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, have been postponed from being scheduled for February to new dates between May and July.

São Paulo carnival is one of the largest in the country. This year, the city broke the public record and the number of blocks: there were more than 15 million revelers on the streets and 600 blocks. The city government spent R $ 36.6 million, and there was a financial return of R $ 2.3 billion for the city.

The City of São Paulo decided to postpone the street carnival and the samba school parades of 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new date has not yet been defined, but, in the case of parades, the League of Samba Schools of São Paulo proposes that the party be held from the end of May or the beginning of July, at a date yet to be defined.

Samba schools and street carnival organizers in São Paulo already advocated postponing the carnival because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Governor João Doria said on July 15 that mega-events like New Year's Eve and Carnival should only be celebrated with the creation of the vaccine against the coronavirus.

The announcement was made by Mayor Bruno Covas  at a press conference at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, South Zone of São Paulo:

"We are defining with the blocks as well as with schools and with other cities the new date that should happen from May of next year. It will hardly happen in June because it coincides with the festivals of São João in the Northeast"

Pool Party in Antigua - Guatemala (Rave in an empty swimming pool)

There's a party where everyone goes when going to Antigua - Guatemala.

It's a crazy rave on Saturdays, in an empty swimming pool. Nothing fancy but fun, it takes place in an abandoned swimming pool and the surrounding area just outside of Antigua (about 25 minutes from Antigua).  The pool itself is basically the entire dance floor. Outside of the swimming pool dance floor is just wide open full of grass where people sit and drink.

To go there are shuttles going from Lucky Rabbit.

The party starts at midnight, DJ(s) playing techno until the morning a well-stocked bar that also accepts credit cards (this is not common in Central America, at a party). There's a roof covering the pool and bar area. The party has bouncers and independent food carts serving tortas and tacos during the whole party. The empty pool is big enough to have plenty of room to catch some fresh air. Again, it lasts well into the morning, and I think the crowd start to leave at around 5AM
